Lofoten Photography – Workshop Information
Our base for this 6-day winter photography adventure will be the Lofoten Islands in Norway. This usually stunning area becomes even more magical and striking with its snowy mountain peaks, turquoise seascapes, clean beaches, dramatic fjords, and fingers crossed the Northern Lights. At this time of year, the light is good all day; sunrises come later and sunsets earlier so we aim to capture both every day and stay out shooting throughout. Sunrise in Feb is around 9 and sunset at 4. Sunrise is at 10 and sunset at 2.30 in January . So with the blue hour shooting added we photograph from 9 until 3.30 with long nights and a greater chance of Northern Lights. Theres no big drives on this trip so plenty of time to concentrate on your shooting.
One of the most exciting aspects of this workshop is the challenge posed by the weather, which can be changeable and means that we could be photographing in bright, clear conditions or shooting snow and ice. We’ll keep a flexible itinerary to capture the best the weather brings us. You will be able to try your hand at creative compositions using tripods and long exposure techniques. If the skies are clear we’ll also try northern lights where possible. If the lights are not cooperating we can always do some post processing in the evenings and enjoy socialising with the other participants.
Workshop Weekend Program
We do not set out a specific location itinerary, as Peter & Thorarinn will bring you to the best locations under the prevailing light conditions. As a general guide however, we will be visiting Leknes, Hamnoy & its surrounding areas. The pictures above give you a great idea of what we are aiming for.
