Iceland Photography Workshop Destinations

Our Iceland South Coast photography workshop is the essential Iceland for new visitors and returning shooters a like. It takes in Iceland’s most recognisable and iconic locations including some stunning waterfalls, glaciers, and of course black beaches. Iceland is one of the most iconic places in the world to hold a landscape photography workshop. If you want to experience some of the finest and most unusual landscape on earth then join us for a once in a lifetime 8 day journey. We will also be shooting a number of evenings throughout the trip as we seek out the northern lights. We have timed our workshop to coincide with the new moon phase to ensure we give ourselves the best chance possible with our Aurora shooting. We have a wealth of experience reading Icelandic weather and we are expertly placed to maximise your chances of shooting the northern lights.

Exact itinerary will be based on prevailing conditions but we will be based on the south coast for the duration of the trip. Expect to visit locations such as Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss and numerous vantage points around the iconic stacks at Vik. We will also shoot Skaftafell, Vatnjökull, Diamond Ice Beach, Jökulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and Vesturhorn plus much more.

Ice Cave

We have been visiting the shimmering blue ice caves of the Vatnjökull glacier for many years. The ice caves are truly a sight to behold and a unique photographic opportunity. However, the past few years have seen the easily accessible caves crowded by tourists making it impossible to make any images. The experience became impossible for photographers. The only way to properly shoot a cave is to hike to a more remote location. In our experience groups have mixed physical abilities, and as such we are adding this as an optional extra for our 2019 tour. We have no way of saying what caves will be available as this changes every year. We have, however, allocated a time slot for this activity and it will be presented as an optional extra for the group at the beginning of the trip when we can properly assess the difficulty level of the hike. Numbers will also dictate cost. For those who do not wish to participate there will be daytime downtime. The activity will take place during the day so sunrise and sunset will not be missed by anyone.

Logistics and Our Input

Throughout our Iceland photo workshop, we will bring you to hand-picked locations at the best time of day to ensure you get great shots. Before each shoot, we will suggest shots to you. What will work compositionally and give you technical advice on how to execute the image. Our evenings will be spent trying to shoot the aurora when the chance arises. We will organise all aspects of the tour from hotels, and transportation to all shoot locations. It really is an amazing chance to come away with lots of great new images and learn new skills in the field. We will be shooting sunrises and sunsets throughout but never fear our timing is perfect with late starts and the chance of long periods of golden light.

Meet up for the tour will be from Keflavik afternoon January 27th.  The first night will be spent in Keflavik, then one night Vik, 3 nights in the glacial lagoon area, 1 night Vik and then back to Keflavik for the final night. Participants fly out the morning of Feb 3rd or else continue their adventure.
